LOCATION AND AREA
Nellore district, is the southern most coastal district
in Andhra Pradesh lies between 13o 30' and 15o 6' of the
Northern Latitude and 70* 5' and 80* 15' of the Eastern
Longitude with Nellore as the District Head Quarters. The area
of the district is 13076 Sq. Kms.
It is bonded on the North by Prakasam district, on the
East by bay of Bengal, on the south by chittoor
district and Chengalpattu district
of Tamilnadu and on the West by viligonda Hills
which separate in from Cuddapah district.
Total area of the district is 13076 sq. kms District
headquarters is located at NelloreNellore is well
connected by road and rail with all important towns in the
State. The nearest airport is Tirupathi. Nellore is 173
km north of Chennai city. Nellore is on the north bank of the
Pennar River. Nellore is an important commercial centre. It
also has many educational institutions.
